🚢 Parenthood of the travelling kids.

On Cruise Control

Traveling with young kids isn’t for the faint of heart.  It ranks somewhere between skydiving and wrestling an alligator in a bouncy house, but we’re here to assure you how you can make the most of it!  No joke—our boys might have logged more flight time than Air Force One. 🧑🏼‍✈️ Considering I (Adam) wasn’t on my first plane until age 25, I’m filled with envy.  But maybe that’s the point of parenting:

Give your kids a life they’ll treasure, the journey’s going to be exhausting anyway

We’re all just captains of our own toddler circus clown pirate ships; dodging tantrum typhoons and hangry hurricanes, trying to keep it all from sinking in the largest of emotional tidal waves.  🏴‍☠️🌊

🧠 Fun fact: Vacation planning actually boosts your mood!

Data suggests the simple act of planning a vacation can trigger dopamine and serotonin (the feel good chemical neurotransmitters) in your brain, giving you a "booking boost" ☺️

Which is why you’re going to take that family vacation this year and absolutely crush it!

So go ahead and Google like a travel agent on espresso:

  • Pick your dream spot for a Kwik family Trip 😜

  • Check out flight times and prices from nearest airports ✈️

  • Can’t/Won’t/Don’t fly? No worries! Map out road trip or Amtrak routes 🚝

  • Scan your chaotic calendar for possibilities 🗓️

  • Book something bold because you are capable and accountable 🫡

Whether it’s Texas, Disney, or a last-minute surprise cruise, go make it happen! Trust us, we’ve done all three with barely a plan and a prayer.  Just a little inspiration to live on the wild side.

SHOWTIME! 🍿

We recently flew into Fort Lauderdale for our first family cruise.  Preparation came a little easier, as we’d cruised once before (sans kids) and lived it up with a coveted drink package and good friends.  (Feeling like a future newsletter topic on our hands #FDK)

This time was going to be different 📋

No drink package.  No naps.  Just responsibly focusing on the kids. (Enter Homer Simpson style disgruntled groan).  Keep them fed and engaged in whatever joy their little heart desires.  That was our #1 objective.   Never fear!  That’s B.A. is here! 🦸🏼

🍹 A – Our Mocktail Maestro

Our oldest was living large. He spent most of his time with the adults ordering every tropical drink on the menu (zero proof Mojito’s, Daiquiri’s, Bahama Mama’s, you name it)🍍

Lavishly trying escargot, calamari and other exquisite delicacies one can only hold with pinky out like a true cruise ship connoisseur 🤙🏻

His energy level? NASCAR engine. 🏎️

Honestly, he needed more adult support than the toddler did. Truly living his best life.

Shoutout to Aunt, Uncle and Grandparents, for the tag-team hustle. 🙌

🏄‍♂️ B – The Thrill Seeker

Our fearless athlete with no chill 🥶 He exerted every ounce of energy.

He wanted to try every waterpark, pool, hot tub, ping pong, mini golf…🏓

Name it and this kid will do it!  If it slides, splashes, or spins = he’s on it.  🛝

We’d need a Santa’s list size scroll to name everything… for real.  📜

His only tears? Being an inch too short for the big slides and wave rider.

His kryptonite? Still vegetables. 🥦🙅‍♂️  #CroutonOnlySalad

Be afraid, Be very afraid 😈

🏖️ C – The Sweet-Faced Zen Baby

The youngest, the mama’s boy, going through alllllll the emotions 🥺

Soaking in the little things, but with a big heart.  💗

If “life's a beach, I’m just playing in the sand” had a mascot?  It’s him, this is his motto.

Favorite pool?  Probably the hot tub, blissfully floating around

Favorite activity?  Toy sand buckets and shovels.  🏰

Laying low to float his boat the rest of the trip.

🫣 Best/Worst Case Scenario?

Eating 2 free delicious ice cream cones every day and gaining some extra weight? 🍦

Chatting and sharing family dilemmas with other tired parents poolside? 💬

Hearing ear piercing, yet joyful, screams from random kids running amok?  🙉

Sweating through a jam-packed waterpark in 80° tropical conditions? 🌴

Still beats working 8-10 hours on a Tuesday packed full of extracurriculars.

You get the point, so take a load off. Catch flights not feelings. #FAFO

🗣️ Real Talk: You can do this

Yes, meltdowns will happen from the kids… and probably you too

Yes, you’ll definitely forget something.

Just ride out the emotions and you’ll be on your way to smooth sailing. ⛵

Trust us: these memories will outlast the boring weekly routine

✅ Plan the trip.
🧳 Pack the snacks.
💸 Spoil the kids (and yourself).

You’ve earned it.  And when it’s all over?  You’ll look back, smile, and say…

Now That’s B.A. 😎
